Itching to go somewhere, but my arthritic hip has gotten to the point where it won’t let me stand or walk for more than 10 – 15 minutes. Cortisone shots did nothing – seeing doc this Thursday to discuss Plan B. Surgery? It would mean no wade fishing until fall
I’m sorry to hear that Grs. I myself have hip & lower back issues as well. Sometimes when I’m fishing, and I have my chest waders on, I’ll sit in the river with the current hitting my lower back area. Man that feels good. Takes down the swelling and I can move easier. I refuse to go down without a fight, so I just fish on through it. I did buy one of those support belts from Fish Pond. Hopefully it helps.
I do hope that if you do need surgery it will only be minor, in & out thing, or maybe a day or two at most to rest. I have heard many miraculous stories from some who have had surgery, so lets hope you will be one of them.
I truly believe dry fly fishermen are the toughest breed of fishermen around. You’re going to do just fine Grs, just fine indeed.
I’m looking into a few days in a drift boat w/a guide – probably the Green in Utah as it supposedly has good surface fishing most of the year. Expensive, but I’ll go stir crazy if I can’t get away at least for a bit.
Grsdlnr: Daily hatches of midges and BWO’s on the Green now. You can wade fish it easily enough. A float trip or three will put you on the pods with the right guide who wants to do that for you. But you can walk to some of ’em.
