They went away once. The current model is what they brought back. I don’t think they’ll go away either, but I have a spare, so i’m not too concerned.

Let me ask for your knowledge. The CGR in a five wt. Even as flexible as that rod is, would you use it on the Ark., or just smaller waters you fish?
I’m really interested in a Steffens 8ft. 5wt for the Poudre. That’s why I’m asking.

Yeah, i’d use it on the Ark, but it’s not ideal for dries. I’m talking about the 7′ 4/5 wt CRG and it’s too short to mend the line right for dries. It’s fine for creeks, because casts are so close.

I don’t like anything shorter than 8 1/2′ for bigger rivers like the Ark. 9′ is better, but 8 1/2′ is doable.

The Steffen would be nice. i’d go with it.

Thanks Creek. I figured with the length of the CGR the Ark. wouldn’t be logical, but was more curious about the action of the rod on the Ark.

The Poudre isn’t as big as the Ark. and I think an 8ft. 5wt. would be good for it. Generally I fish the Poudre with 4wts, but you probably knew that from my other posts, and I was wondering what a full flex fiberglass 5wt would be like. I bet it would be just fine.

It’s just my opinion, but to me a 5wt shouldn’t be smaller than 8ft. I know fiberglass is heavier than graphite and that’s the reason for them being shorter, but they are stronger as well, so I need to get it in my mind that a 5wt can be shorter. I’m just so used to graphite, and I need to get over that. I want to get more into the fiberglass scene, and when my boo rod arrives, I just might be done with graphite. Naw, who am I kidding, I do like graphite as well, as long as they are not too fast.

One more thing Creek, I don’t know if you were able to before your unfortunate back injury, but how does the CGR compare with your Grey Wolf?

Very similar, but the Wolf is prettier.
