I have posted this like three times, only to delete it over and over because I can’t explain simply where I am going with this, so I’m just going to ask; what is the best action, or flex of a rod that performs a roll cast better?

I know the proper line helps quite a bit like a line with a long taper like Wulff TT lines. But is there a certain rod type that out performs other rods when roll casting, or does it not matter?

Med action roll casts best for me. A rod will always cast better if you can load it. It’s not easy to load a fast rod with a roll cast.

Agree – a medium, even med-slow rod works best for me as well.

That’s what I was leaning on as well. Most of the graphite rods I own ( have owned ) have been a med/fast action, and even on the water it’s difficult to roll cast them. My form must be perfect to do it, and it’s easier said than done.
The fastest rod I own, and it’s more a fast med/fast to me, is my Radian. That rolls nicely for some reason.

My boo rod is a med/fast, but feels so much like the Redington CT to me which I like a lot, and it roll casts very well.
