I am curious if anyone fishes the sparkle dun style fly. I honestly never have. I am considering tying this fly pattern as a small dry fly pattern for my local tailwaters. I have read somewhere that this pattern fishes well on slow moving waters, and was designed sans hackle for this type of fishing. Do any of you tie/fish this pattern? If so what are your thoughts on its effectiveness?

I have not fished or tied that fly. But I have heard many good things about it.
I say go for it, what do you have to lose?

It’s a good bug. Made some for eastern sulfur hatches and they did OK. On really hammered streams I do better with CDC patterns, like Harrop’s various emergers and cripples, but definitely try a few SD’s. They’re easy enough to tie and (unlike CDC) reasonably durable too.
