Well I got out today and caught my first trout of the season.
I did have a trip planned to do some river fishing, but we had some bad weather roll in, and couldn’t justify driving 5 hours to nymph in the rain.

So I made the best of the situation and hit a local pond. Caught a nice little rainbow, froze my fingers off it was 4 degrees (39F). It paid off and I caught a feisty little 12″ rainbow.

Now I’m just hoping for some better weather next weekend, some BWO hatches, and counting down the days (22) until pike opens.

I wouldn’t even drive 5 miles to nymph in the rain or any weather. I only nymph if I absolutely have to, and I am having too much fun not having to.

But I’m glad you got out and fished any way. Keep us in the loop on your reports. I’m trying to get out and fish with my new toy, but the wife got me another new toy called a power sprayer and pointed at the fence.

Being married is getting in the way of my fishing, but at least my undies are clean and I’m well fed.

    Scotty,

I hear you, the warm meals are hard to beat!

My next couple weekends will be local pond fishing as I have my parents visiting over the next couple of weeks, but I’m going to try and get on the river before pike opens.
