Creek, on channel 9 news they showed a 47lb musky a man was holding caught in Iowa. They harvested the eggs and released it. It was huge, you might be able to look it up, or they may show it again tonight. It was the last story before the news ended.
I have heard of the 406 lines, but not seen anything really on them. thanks for the web info.
PMH, the Recon sounds good. I don’t like really fast rods, so med/fast is as fast as I’ll go and the Recons had my attention from the beginning. The A4’s from Scott are nice, I have no complaints, but want to try them head to head to see which one’s I like better. The A4’s are not like the Radian at all, but I know the Recons are similar to the Helios 2 with their tapers.
I definetly prefer faster rods, but the Recon doesn’t seem overly fast to me, and that’s generally the feedback I get from customers when they take a look at it. It feels a lot like the H2 Tip Flex.
Like every rod, it’s best to cast before buying.
I’ve found that my 4.2 ounce Islander IR4 balances the 5 weight perfectly.
PMH, whats your opinion on the Helios 2 mid flex? Why is it I never see any reviews on it, only the tip flex seems to be the popular rod. I’d figure the mid flex would be popular for trout fishing dry flies?
I’ve heard great things about it, especially in regards to dry fly fishing. unfortunately we only carry the tip flex’s so I have not been able to play with one. I think the only downside may be that it would have a stiffer tip. The soft tip is one of the things I love about my Recon and the Tip flex H2, but that is probably just because that is what I’m used to.
