Boulder County is filled with nothing but Little Miss Princess Polly Prissy Pants Panzies!!!!!
Sorry for the language.
You can’t tell anyone the truth anymore because it might hurt their feelings. Since when does facts care about feelings?! Sweet Mercy Mary Margaret!
I had computer problems for awhile stopping me from doing part of my job. I have brought it to my supervisors attention last week and he did send a ticket to I.T. to fix it. Nine working days later nothing has changed. All my supervisor says is they keep giving him lame excuses what it can be, but they won’t fix it. They are busy, they can’t figure out the problem, blah, blah, blah. I saw the e-mails he received back from I.T. and he was telling me the truth.
I said, ” enough of the good cop thing, it’s time to send in Dirty Harry.”
My supervisor said, ” no, you can’t go in blazing away. Sometimes swatting flies with a sledge doesn’t work, and we are too close to Boulder and Blah, blah, blah.”
I said, “this whole Boulder attitude isn’t getting me anywhere. All they are doing every time you E-mail I.T. is sh****ng all over you and you have been taking it for almost two weeks at my expense. This whole thing of being PC doesn’t get things done, and being able to do my job has nothing to do with being PC. These people just don’t want to do their jobs, and their finding ways of getting away with it.”
So I went to the dept. managers office. He is out of town right now, so that isn’t going to help. But another manager that I get along with real well asked what was wrong and if he could help. I explained the situation and he got on the phone to an I.T. person. He explained that I couldn’t get into CAPS, which is where I marry the tracking number and match it to the serial number so I can weld the flanges on the meter. The I.T. dude bucked it to someone else because we outsourced our I.T.. The manager helping me gave me a funny look and I said to him that that’s the attitude my boss was getting. The manager just shook his head and said this culture has got to change.
He gave another guy a call who knows CAPS, and asked if he could come out to the shop so I could show him the issue. Fifteen minutes later the issue was solved!
You see, this manager, he has a way of getting things done. I really like him and I’d work for him any day. Too bad he’s retiring soon. But when he talks, people jump.
So I went back to my boss and told him the issue has been fixed. He asked what I did, and I told him I just used the right tool for the job. I told him what manager I went to and he cringed saying I show no mercy. I assured him no feelings were hurt during the the making of this fairy tale world we live in.
Why is it people don’t want the truth anymore? I would rather someone tell me the hurtful truth trying to help me. Tell me what I need to hear, not what I want to hear.
They tell the seers,
“Stop seeing visions!”
They tell the prophets,
“Don’t tell us what is right,
tell us nice things,
tell us lies
Sounds a lot like today’s culture.
Thanks for letting me vent. I’m going out in the yard and cast a rod.August 18, 2017 at 5:59 am #6559
Sounds like the manager who helped solve your problem didn’t do it by screaming or hollering or demanding; he did it by finding an alternate path to the solution.

You’re right Brent. Like I said, when this manager talks, people jump. The bad thing is all the managers below him want to push him out. They are the ones creating this society of weakness and irresponsible people.
Some of us are old school and I for one believe in serving my customer the best I can with high quality and efficiency. But we have a few people in the shop who think this is an 8hr. social club and go around the shop talking to whoever will listen. They may do 1 hours worth of work all day, & the supervisors see it but management told them they can’t say anything to them because it will or could hurt the employees feelings.
What the bloody he’ll has happened to this country? Who does who work for? This company hired me to do a job. I didn’t hire the company to give me a job.
I don’t know if I can stay here much longer because of this society this place is creating. This place hires young millenials who are welding engineers who don’t even know what total inner runnout is. And I am to listen to them because they have a degree. I’m not against schooling at all, its a good thing, but Some of these kids ain’t even shaving yet, and they take their jobs for granted.
No wonder the saying here is, “its the greatest job you’ll ever hate.”
How do you hurt someone’s feelings by telling, sorry, nicely requesting 😊, they get back to work?
I want my country back! Or at least my state.
As for that manager I like, he can be hard at times, but he is equally compassionate and understanding. That to me is being well balanced.

I’ve never been known for the subtle approach. I’ll tell you right to your face what’s on my mind. It’s the only way I can live with myself and feel good when I look in the mirror. I feel it’s an honest way to live. I don’t give in to those I don’t agree with and if their feeling are hurt so be it.
You live in the armpit of Colorado Scotty. I could never live there. Among other problems those people have they also hate hunters and think all hunting should be stopped. I call them tree huggers.
As an example of how I feel about them I had two large decals made up for my Jeep. They go along the side of on hood for the whole length of it. Also one from the back of the Jeep on the tailgate. The Jeep is black and the decals are bright white, so they show up real good. They get right to the point and tree huggers blow up when they see them. They simply say………….BEAR HUNTERAugust 18, 2017 at 11:17 am #6563
This whole area along I-25 is brain washed. And its getting worse.
I was in a meeting one time and the company president was going to be there. Before he arrived the lead engineer told everyone not to talk about certain work issues, as in some problems on the shop floor. Just let him on the things that were either completed or going well.
I got up and started to leave when the engineer asked where I was going. I told him if you all are afraid to tell him what he needs to know because you’re afraid of hearing what he has to say to you, I suggest you find a new job or start telling him the truth. The issues that were not going so well I knew nothing about, so I had no opinions to share. So I continued saying if we can’t inform him of the issues, and only want to tell him the good things, a simple e-mail to his office would be good enough and this meeting is a waste of time. I wasn’t invited to any more of those meetings. Everyone is afraid of loseing their jobs, but they don’t want to do their jobs. And you can forget them being responsible for their mistakes. That don’t happen.
I was taught that when I make a mistake at work to let the boss know about it and fix it. Never hide your mistakes because the outcome is far worse. So be honest and do the right thing. That advice has saved me many times in the past. And still I see people hide issues and pay for it later. And the funny thing is, they show no remorse. I don’t get it.
I want to live on the western slope so badly, but there isn’t any work.August 18, 2017 at 12:08 pm #6564
That’s just like the Republicans are afraid to stand up to trump. Even though they want to and it’s the right thing to do. He’s a clown and needs to be thrown out of the white house. Same deal that you’re talking about. The Repubs are afraid of losing their jobs, because Trump still holds 80% of the Republican voters. I can’t understand why. It just shows how many stupid people there are in this country. Meanwhile, Trump is dumping our country in the toilet.August 18, 2017 at 12:38 pm #6565
I keep saying the same thing over and over; people are fake. Professional wrestling is real.😀
