I’m speaking of these Tacky brand, and the Umpqua HD New Generation fly boxes. I don’t know much about them at all, but I know they have boxes for dries, and that’s what I’m looking for. They are in my price range, so that’s a plus.
I know Tacky’s Dry Fly Box is made not to crush the hackle, and I figure the Umpqua Dry box is to be the same thought.

Now I’ll be honest, to me the Umpqua brand looks better, and similar to what I am used to for their Heavy Duty boxes.

    Any comments appreciated.

No interest. I’ll stick with my Wheatley boxes.

From the pictures they look OK. I’ve used compartment boxes forever, and to replace them all now with those new ones would run about what a couple of good necks would cost.

I got one of the Tacky Dry Fly boxes on sale about 3 months ago. So far I like it. I will preface that by saying that I have never been a fly box nerd. Here is what I do like.

1.) It does not smash hackles, although a BIG fly may challenge that.
2.) The magnetic latch system seems to be pretty robust.
3.) The space age plastic lining is very tuff.

    Things I don’t like.
1.) It doesn’t sit well in my vest. (Yes I know I am old school and still prefer a fishing vest)
2.) I do think the compartment boxes may actually hold more flies.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks Mike, that does actually help.
