No, I failed. I tried to find where they were feeding on berries, but in every spot they had already been there, and ate all the berries.
So, as a last resort I tried to call one in with a predator call. I called two different bears in, but they both did the same thing. They came charging in looking for a free meal, but as they got to about 100yds they started to circle me. As they got around behind me they picked up my scent, and were gone. I had put the wind in my favor, but I can’t do much if they circle around behind me. Bears are smart.
I’m going to wait until spring. The only good winter fishing is on tailwaters, and the passes to get to them are closed in the winter due to snow. There’s a couple I can get to in the winter, but I don’t like either one. I can wait.
